What Are the Pro and Con on School Uniforms?

School uniform causes many various emotions of people from all over the world. Many consider that children should wear casual clothes at school and feel comfortable and free, other doubt and say that school uniform is a part of a discipline program.
But before considering pro and con on school uniforms let’s turn to its history and learn world school uniform models.

00000003981.jpg Prussian model
Japanese secondary school boys wear the uniform, the model     of which comes from the Prussian soldiers’ uniform of the         XIX century. It consists of trousers and dark coat, decorated     with stand-up collar and buttons.

And girls wear the dresses which remind Europe navy         seaman uniform. School uniform is liked in Japan and even Japanese cartoons heroes wear school uniform.

Religion topic

The country of school uniform is Britain in Europe. Generations of parents stately got their children in shirts and ties, blazers and strange hats to schools.

In France in 2004 there was a law prohibited to wear muslim shawls and other religious symbols to school.

The appearance of the school uniform in the USA was accompanied by noisy and sometimes bloody events. The uniform appeared here to solve the children problem when according to professor’s Brusmah words “shot to each other because of the expensive trainners”.

So, first let’s consider the pros of school uniform:

1. An indubitable school uniform advantage is that it moderates visible social exfoliation between children and teens. When some wear the clothes from expensive boutiques and others buy Second Hand clothes the difference is seen greatly.
2. The second advantage of school uniform is its discipline influence. It includes not only wearing business and classic costumes without any provocative low-necked dresses and so on but not wasting time on becoming beautiful in the morning.
3. And the most important school uniform pro is that as all corporative clothes promotes team unity.

But school uniform cons are not less considerable.
1. The first is individuality suppression. The impossibility to express themselves by clothes can become a real stress for children. It can prevent harmonic personality development.
2. Another disadvantage touches parents directly. Supplementary expenditures on clothes, which a child can’t wear anywhere else except school is difficult for many families.

Common uniform cut can’t be accepted by everyone. And it is a real serious stress for a child to wear clothes he doesn’t like.

That’s why knowing the entire pro and con on school uniform it’s quiet difficult to assign whether it’s necessary or not. Every school should have its own method to that topic. May be it’s better to make clothes limits and allow children to their favorite trousers.
